5. Read leisurely to keep your sanity.

I never read books when I’m at school. I repeat, NEVER. But guess what I did this semester? I read.

It felt so great. (It was also on my Resolution list from New Years.) Surprisingly, I finished a whole book on the piano. I was reading it for my research honors project for next semester. I started the book in the summer, so I suppose the feat wasn’t that impressive, but trust me, reading about classical composers and piano anatomy isn’t fun ALL the time!

And I read this:The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing Melissa Bank

I never read leisurely at school because I always think I have something better to do like read my textbook or write a paper (I end up watching TV or browsing the web anyway).  Pete got me this at a book sale at his library. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I read it every night before bed. It became something I looked forward to.  No matter how crazy my classes got or how progressively weirder my social life grew, reading at night anchored me.

I’m also reading this:

How I Became a Famous Novelist

I don’t have the same passion for this book as the previous one. I’m moving through it slower, but it still keeps me reading. I wonder if I’ll keep reading like this next semester.
